The Knitters Guild of Incline Village meets every Wednesday from 1 - 3 p.m. in the church library. The members knit and crochet layettes for newborns, mittens, hats, scarves, blankets, and other warm items for children and adults who need them.
Donations are made throughout the year to North Tahoe Family Resource Center in Kings Beach, Tahoe Forest Hospital, and the Senior Center in Truckee, as well as the Holiday Giving Program here in Incline Village. A supply of warm hats has been given to the counselor at Incline Elementary School to give to children who come to school on cold days without something to keep their heads warm.
Chemo caps, made of very soft yarn, are provided to the American Cancer Society in Reno for people undergoing chemotherapy. If you know of anyone who could use one of these lovely caps, please let us know.
Several guild members go to Incline Elementry School after the regular meeting at St. Patrick's to teach 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders how to knit. Currently about twenty enthusiastic students participate in this after-school activity.
The guild is currently in its eighth year of helping others! We welcome anyone who loves to knit or crochet; if your skills need refreshing, we will be glad to help you. Supplies of yarn, needles, and patterns are available.
Call Peggy Harrison at 775-831-9402 for more information, or drop in any Wednesday.
